This quarter witnessed major developments such as the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India allowing Independent Sugar Corporation Ltd.’s appeal and directing that prior approval of the Competition Commission of India is mandatory before Committee of Creditor’s vote of a resolution plan in insolvency cases, the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal partially upholding the Competition Commission of India’s findings of abuse of dominance by Google but reducing the penalty, the Competition Commission of India: (i) combining information against Google with ongoing investigation into its advertising technology services; (ii) dismissing information against Zomato for unfair and discriminatory conduct; (iii) penalizing Goldman Sachs for gun jumping, etc., as well as regulatory and institutional updates.
