CO-LENDING 2.0 | RBI’s 2025 FRAMEWORK AT A GLANCE

The Reserve Bank of India (“RBI”) has released the Draft Co-Lending Arrangements Directions, 2025 (“Draft Directions”), which - once finalised following stakeholder consultations - will bring direct regulatory oversight by the RBI over co-lending arrangements (“CLAs”) between specified permitted RBI-regulated entities (“REs”). This enhanced supervision is aimed at promoting financial inclusion and systematic stability and this may call for the REs to re-evaluate and recalibrate their existing co-lending models and strategies. INDUSLAW's Namita Viswanath Sana Khan Abhijit Chakrabarti and Suhani Dube discuss the key provisions of the Draft Directions and analyse their potential implications for the relevant REs.
