In September 2022, the Reserve Bank of India released the Digital Lending Guidelines, a sectoral regulation that governs regulated entities such as Non-banking Financial Companies or banks offering digital lending services to borrowers through Lending Service Providers and Digital Lending Applications. With the enactment of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, an overarching law for data protection in India, it is important to understand the interplay between the guidelines and the data act.
