Paras is a Partner in the firm’s Mumbai office and specializes in Disputes Resolution, Financial Regulatory Advisory and Litigation.
Paras brings over two decades of experience in litigation and advisory work across securities, corporate, civil, commercial, and regulatory matters. He specializes in matters of white-collar crimes and securities laws, especially regulatory actions. These include matters of takeovers, insider trading laws, market manipulation, delisting, prevention of money laundering provisions, and other such regulations.
He also regularly advises on compliance requirements such as insider trading regulations, listing requirements, stockbroking regulations, merchant banking regulations, takeover regulations, and regulations applicable to other capital market participants. He has also conducted internal audits to detect fraud and non-compliances for multinational funds, often taking a senior role in these investigations.
Paras regularly advises on regulatory and registration requirements before authorities such as the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Employee Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), and Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), as well as on proceedings before the SEBI and RERA.
Paras has also been representing clients on financial commercial transactions in drafting of contracts, advise on structuring and applicability of various provisions including securities and exchange control regulations
Paras has conducted and assisted in proceedings before the Hon’bleSupreme Court, High Courts, Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT), NationalCompany Law Tribunals (NCLT), District Courts, Session Courts, RERA,arbitration tribunals and quasi-judicial proceedings before the SEBI, stockexchanges. He has represented FPIs (Foreign Portfolio Investors), merchantbankers, stock-brokers and other securities market intermediaries andorganizations such as AMFI and NSDL in such proceedings. He has alsorepresented SEBI in matters before the SAT and High Courts.
Paras is often invited as a specialist speaker at various legal conferences and summits and has conducted seminars and workshops on topics related to his domain knowledge.
Prior to joining CMS INDUSLAW, Paras was the founder of Paras Parekh Law Office. Earlier in his career, he was with law Firms including AZB & Partners and JSA.
